Freelancing admin, simplified.

GoingSolo builds free tools and step-by-step guides for Australian freelancers, so you can spend less time on tax, super, and paperwork.

Why I built this

I'm Jay, a freelancer in Melbourne. When I went freelance, I had to figure out a bunch of stuff that employees never think about:

  • Should I be paying super? How much tax would I save?
  • What can I actually claim as a deduction?
  • What the hell is a BAS?
  • What should my hourly rate actually be?
  • Should I incorporate or stay sole trader?

The information exists, but it's scattered across ATO documents (unreadable), accountant blogs (trying to sell you services), and generic small business sites (not specific to freelancers).

GoingSolo is the resource I wished existed when I started freelancing.
